Triple Bunk Hack - Mydal Bunkbeds
Materials: 2 Mydal Bunkbed sets
Description: I took two Ikea Mydal Bunkbed sets and made a cool triple bunk. Used no lumber or hardware from any other source. It involved dropping one bunk all the way to the floor and raising the top to the top of the upper rails. Had to drill a few extra holes. Took about 4 hours.

Oh my, two people's feet are going to be quite tightly fit in there!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that this is for three youngsters, with the youngest on the bottom. If so, they're probably not tall enough to need the entire length of the bed. The foot of the bed on the two lower levels sure look like inviting little cozy-caves for reading or such. A very interesting approach. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteWell thought hack and nicely executed! Nice and cosy spot for kids, could easily fit adults too!
ReplyDeleteLooks very good!
ReplyDeleteI'm just imaging the nightmare it must be to make the beds.... I'd prefer a normal bunk with a bed that slides under the bed at the bottom, which would also liberate floor space to play during the daytime.
ReplyDeleteNice wok though, very inventive.
I would also worry about the fact that the window will be so easily accessible through the bunk
ReplyDeleteI love this, best hack!
ReplyDeleteIs it really possible for the child to get into and out of the top bunk without hitting the ceiling lamp?
ReplyDeleteIngenous hack!

Do u put bunky boards on slats or just mattress?
ReplyDeleteVery creative - I love it!! But, I agree with the concern about the middle bunk - the center support piece for the top bunk is being pulled down by a middle support for the middle bunk, which is not supported at all. Perhaps another piece from the middle of the middle bunk to the ground would help. Wow, that made way more sense in my head.
