Description: We bought Hyllis shelves for our panty but also need a place to feed our cat. We took the bottom shelf off. I thought the shelf looked modern/industrial. I purchased a clock kit at a craft store then drilled a hole in the top and assembled the clock kit according to instructions on package.

Very nice and simple! As an alternative I can see the lower part used as a board with to-do and to-buy lists or weekly menus and things like that using magnets.
