Hacker Help: Ektorp Ekspansion
Materials: Ektorp Corner Sofa 2+2, Ektorp Chaise
Description: Hello Hackers,
I'm curious if it's possible to expand an Ektorp Corner Sofa to include an Ektorp Chaise in a configuration similar to the Karlstad Corner Sofa 2+3/3+2 and Chaise? I'm not familiar with the construction at the arms of the Ektorp, but I'm hoping they are as easy to manipulate as the others? Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks so much!

We added an Ektorp footstool to our Ektorp three seater sofa to make it a chase, it looks great and we don't need to worry about covers not fitting etc.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the assembly instructions for the sofa, the arms attach ON TOP of the seat frame, so you can't just remove the arm and insert the chaise at the end. You'll be left with a gap the size of the arm between the sofa seats and the chaise, and nowhere convenient to attach the arm on the other side of the chaise.
ReplyDeleteSo nope, not an easy hack.

i think you might try to find the chaise lounge extention only (not the whole chaise longue) so you might add it to the existing sofa. of course total lenght of sofa will remain safe as current, but should work.
not sure if that piece is sold separately (looks like not!) and guess final result wont look nice as sofa is no long enough to fit the chaise longue either... (in the middle will look like a pit more than a seat!!)

ex ikea sofa salesperson here... the loveseat / chaise combo is a completely separate piece...co worker made the mistake of selling someone the love seat and chaise pieces..did not work. I wish it were moldular..totally love that about the kivik..
ReplyDeleteDarn...was here searching with a similar question. Want to take my 2x2 ektorp and remove corner piece and left arm "loveseat" and insert left arm chaise.
ReplyDeleteDear Ikea, let's make it modular!
