Gruntdal ceiling lamp
Materials: Grundtal Hanger, Fabric, elastic, sewing machine, drill
Description: Cut a square (27"x27") of white cotton fabric, sew edges and pass a elastic in the seam. Drill 4 holes in the ceiling, 1 for each corner of the square, place a plug and screw the Gruntdal hanger. When 4 hangers are placed, put elastic around hangers, the fabric is suspended. That's it!

Looks like a fire waiting to happen...
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteIs there a photo in the dark? That seems to be such an easy hack with a great result.
ReplyDeleteI see no reason this would set on fire while being subjected to the raging 10s of degrees of heat from that bulb (although the bulb is a bit close to the ceiling for my liking).
ReplyDeleteMaybe not stick a massive halogen in there.
Looks nice, good job.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments! I do not think there's risk of fire because I used energy saving bulb (don't heat) and because the fabric don't touch the bulb. It's been several months since I put the lamp in my room and no problem. There are more pictures on my blog.
I would doublecheck if that bulb doesn't heat up, I have one of those, and they do get hot... not as hot as a halogen, but still...
ReplyDeleteThis is in fact a great hack that looks a lot like a rather more expensive lamp called VEROCA which retails at €250-400. One might replace the elastic band with a short coil spring, 3-4 cm. long, 1 cm Ø. Can also be made in larger versions (60x170, for example).
