Laundry Hamper turned Beautiful Modern Side Table

Materials: IKEA ANTONIUS Laundry Hamper, Piece of cut wood

Description: 1. Removed hamper bag from hamper frame.
2. Spray painted frame of the hamper black
3. Went to Lowes and had the nice gentleman in the lumber department cut me a thick square of wood (any indoor wood) about 15.5 inches on each side. The thickness of this piece of lumber was about 2 inches.

4. I used a fine toothed sand paper and lightly sanded the wood.
5. I stained the wood with my favorite walnut stain.
6. I attached the wood to the frame by using an epoxy bond. Wood glue or drilling holes and using wood screws would work, too!

  3. For reasons unknown, I have an extra Antonius frame without a laundry bag. Great hack! I'm totally doing this.

    1. Lucky you! I've been trying to find one of these frames too and no luck so far. :(

  4. I bet this would look good with a 1/2" glass top as well.

  6. That is a beautiful (and do-able) hack! Thanks for sharing! (I have that laundry hamper and the bag is looking pretty sad these days....)

  8. Our local IKEA doesn't sell ANTONIUS hampers either. Do you think the ALGOT frame would work similarly? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40233291/

That ALGOT has its bag-holders on the side, unlike the ANTONIUS frame.

I'd say this ALGOT frame: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10219135/
was the better alternative because it has a similar square on top just like the ANOTNIUS frame, so the wood top has four sides to rest on. You could even add some wood underneath the wood top to prevent from shifting.
